trouble at the targa

The Perfect Road offers an all‑in logistics and prep service for participants in the official Targa Florio rally. Unlike our independent Mille event, this program places your car directly into the Targa Florio entry list and relies on the race organizer for route management, marshals, timing, and on‑route support. We manage international shipping, temporary import/carnet, local storage, and final rally prep so you can focus on the driving and the event experience.

What we provide

  • Registration support and coordination with the Targa Florio organizers to secure your car’s entry.

  • Sea/air freight coordination, customs/carnet handling, and door‑to‑storage logistics in Sicily.

  • Secure storage and staging of your vehicle until the rally start.

  • Pre‑rally technical inspection, basic servicing, and final setup on event day (fuel, fluids, safety checks).

  • Transport of your car from storage to the official rally paddock/start as required by organizers.

  • Optional prep services at our California shop (mechanical work, sympathetic upgrades, safety equipment installations) prior to shipping.

  • Event photography option (packaged separately).

What the Targa Florio organizer provides

  • Official route control, marshals, timing, safety teams, and medical services.

  • On‑route recovery and liaison per the official event rules.

  • Event accreditation, scrutineering per organizer standards, and official paddock access.

Who this is for

  • Owners of vintage‑style coachbuilt cars, resto‑mods, and classic American muscle accepted by the Targa Florio.

  • Drivers seeking an authentic entry into one of the world’s oldest road rallies, with professional logistics handled end‑to‑end.

  • Collectors who want their car present and properly prepared without managing international transport and storage themselves.

What’s included

  • Full event logistics and route planning.

  • Sea/air shipping coordination and temporary import documentation support.

  • Vehicle staging, daily mechanical checks, fuel and basic consumables.

  • Boutique hotel accommodations, select breakfasts, lunches, and evening events.

  • On‑route support: lead/sweep, recovery truck, and medical standby.

  • Event photography and highlight video.

  • Concierge services for travel, extras, and bespoke requests.

What’s not included

  • International airfare and personal travel insurance.

  • Major mechanical repairs beyond standard prep; damage liability handled per participant agreement.

  • Optional upgrades and private concierge add‑ons.

Vehicle eligibility & prep

  • Vehicles must meet the Targa Florio organizer’s technical and eligibility rules. We assist with documentation and pre‑qualifying inspections.

  • Recommended upgrades: adequate brakes, cooling, tires, and safety equipment per organizer requirements. Our shop offers prep packages to bring cars into compliance.

Pricing & availability

  • Logistics and prep packages vary by vehicle size, shipping method, and required prep. Typical ranges: shipping & storage packages $8,000–$25,000; prep and upgrade work quoted separately.

  • Entry into the official Targa Florio depends on organizer acceptance and available slots — we advise early application.

Book both the Muscle at the Mille and Trouble at the Targa in a single season and avoid repeat international shipping. We offer secure local storage, post‑event servicing, and re‑staging between rallies so your car remains in Italy and is ready for both events.

While your car is in Italy you’re free to use it. Take self‑guided tours, join local drives, or request our concierge to arrange hotels, private roads, mechanics, or outings on short notice. Between events we provide post‑run checks, servicing, and any prep needed for the next rally so you enjoy more seat time and less admin.

FAQs

Will my car be an official entrant in the Targa Florio?

Yes, we work with the Targa Florio organizers to place your car on the official entry list, subject to organizer acceptance and compliance with their scrutineering rules.

Do you provide on‑route support during the tagra florio portion of the rally?

No. On‑route support (marshalling, recovery, medical) is provided by the Targa Florio organization. We provide pre‑rally prep, final checks, and transport to the official paddock/start.

What insurance do I need?

Participants must carry appropriate international vehicle insurance and motorsport/motorsport‑adjacent cover as required by the Targa Florio regulations. We can recommend brokers and policy language; personal travel insurance is separate.

Can you prepare a resto‑mod or muscle car to meet Targa Florio requirements?

Yes. Our partner shops can perform sympathetic upgrades and safety installations (brakes, suspension, fire suppression, harnesses, etc.) to meet organizer standards. We’ll provide a detailed quote after inspection.

Can I do both Muscle at the Mille and the Targa Florio in one season?

Yes. We offer combined packages including shipping, secure storage in Italy, post‑event servicing, and transport to each event’s paddock. Booking early is recommended to secure event slots and shipping.

How do customs, carnets, and paperwork work?

We handle temporary import documents and carnet processing when needed, plus customs clearance. You’ll need to provide ownership documents, registration, and ID as requested; we’ll guide the timeline and required originals.

What are the booking, deposit, cancellation, and transfer policies?

A non‑refundable deposit secures your place; final balance is due by the date in your contract (typically 60–90 days before the event). Cancellations before the final balance date may receive partial refunds minus expenses; cancellations after that date are generally non‑refundable. Transfers to another qualified participant are usually allowed with administrative fee and organizer approval. Exact terms are provided in the participant agreement.
